New HSE campaign to reduce 'preventable' slips, trips and falls
The (HSE) has launched a campaign to reduce the number of slips, trips and falls in the UK as it has revealed statistics showing that they are the most common cause of major injuries in British workplaces.
Your Business
You may be an owner-driver or run hundreds of trucks; you operate locally, nationally or internationally. Your business involves moving goods from a factory or warehouse to their destination. You'll use a method of transport that ensures the products reach their customers on time and intact. You may be responsible for the logistics of moving goods hundreds or even thousands of miles, by air, sea, road or rail.
Why Transport Insurance?
When goods are in transit, they are exposed to the everyday risks during handling, storing, loading - even carrying to the transport itself. Insuring those consignments against loss, damage or delay is essential.
You may use the service of a freight forwarder or a logistics company, but most people in the supply chain who facilitate the movement of goods operate under conditions limiting their liability in cases of loss, damage or delay.
If they have only limited liability insurance, it may not be adequate to ensure your products are protected if something were to happen.
What does it Cost?
The cost of your insurance will depend on the type and value of the goods in transit (so it's important to accurately calculate their value), the means of transport you're using, your trade patterns, and whether the journey is domestic or international.
What other insurances should I consider?
If one of your employees sustains an injury from falling debris, this insurance is there to cover their claim.
Because you may be held responsible if a member of the public is injured on your property.
To cover legal defence costs and compensation awards, if you are personally sued as a result of company business.
