Sprinkler System Benefits Highlighted by Fire Fighters
Fire fighters on the Isle of Man set two houses on fire in the hope of convincing developers, local authorities and government departments of the importance of sprinklers, it has been reported. One of the properties had an activated automatic sprinkler system, while the other was unprotected.
The crew's goal was to highlight how the significant damage to the unprotected home could have been prevented, Isle of Man Today stated."The firefighters planned to leave the fires to burn for 15 minutes but the one in the sprinkler-free home spread so quickly that it had to be put out in five minutes. The sprinkler system in the other property activated at 71 degrees Celsius and brought the temperature down to 20 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, temperatures in the unprotected building reached more than 1,000 degrees Celsius", the publication said.
